In order to address the Army’s technology gaps in the area of power and energy in the range of 250-2,000 Watts, the U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Research, Development and Engineering Center’s Command, Power and Integration Directorate Power Division, is exploring a novel method for demonstrating operation of a commercially available gasoline Spark Ignition engine generator with standard military logistics fuels.

The 1 Kw Multi-fuel Generator is an alternative energy hybrid generator that provides intelligent, tactical and convenient squad-level power for Tier 1 and Tier 2 environments to support military forward operating bases and expeditionary missions. It converts liquid fuels and compressed fuels into continuous streams of AC/DC power output. The Multi-fuel Generator operates on liquid fuel and compressed fuel configurations such as: kerosene, propane, gasoline, but also operates on heavy fuels such as DF-2 and JP-8.
